Ceremony Roles

Sacred Space

Before participants arrive, bless the sanctuary and space where the ceremony will be at.

Using a ethical form of smudging herb cleanse the entire space, while singing, chanting or prayer for the ceremony to be blessed and all participants to be blessed and that their intentions be empowered.

Invite in Divine beings, angels, arch angels, guides, ancestor’s that are aligned with pure love and light.

Ask that the space be surrounded by pure Divine love and light, filling and infusing the entire space with Divine energy that supports the ceremony and all the participants.

Smudge

The purpose of smudging ceremony participants is to cleanse their aura.

As we go about our days, busy lives, home and work responsibilities, worries, fears and obligations we carry a worldly energy.

By smudging and cleansing the aura we slough off that worldly energy so participants can be more open, clear and receive the ceremony more deeply. This also creates a clearer, cleaner group energy that facilitates a more powerful ceremony and empowers the intentions.

Smudging sources:

Ethically received rosemary, sage, palo santo

How to smudge:

Before smudging bless the herbal smudge.

First receive participants permission. Smile and invite them to feel comfortable.

Light smudging herbs with a match and allow a steady glow and gently smoke stream.

Begin with participant facing you and start waving the smoke from the top of their head, to face, throat, chest, both arms and hands, torso, and down both legs and feet.

Have participant turn around and begin at the top of the head, back of head, shoulders, shoulder blades, both arms and hands, down torso and both legs and feet. You may ask them to lift one foot at a time to wave some smoke onto the soul of the feet.

You can invite them to turn around and you can bow to them and thank them.

Releasing and Intentions

Releasing

Use a white paper or white tissue paper for fire releasing via burning and special water dissolving papers for water releasing.

Have participants write down on the paper all that no longer serves them, all that they are ready to release at this moment in their lives. This will be the paper that they will throw into the fire, or throw into the water to dissolve.

Invite them to meditate on patterns and ways of being that are obvious and ones that may be hiding in the unconscious… invite them to rise up into the conscious mind what is ready to be released so they can move forward and grow into the more evolved version of self and the intentions they desire.

You may have a list with some examples of what they wish to release, and it may vary depending on the intention of the ceremony.

Some examples of releasing:

Fears, jealousy, hurt, anger, resentments, loneliness, discontentment… any disempowering emotions.

Attachments, insecurities, complaining, victim stories, self-doubt, self-loathing, pain loops, gossip, any negative ways of being.

Addictions, unhealthy lifestyle, over indulgence, laziness, over activity, lack of or too much sleep… any disempowering or negative habits.

Unkindness, dishonesty, disorganization, clutter, excess of any kind… emotional, physical, psychological.

Distraction, racing thoughts, negative or disempowering programming and conditioning that no longer serve.

Any lack of self love, selling out on the self, negative self talk, devaluing the self.

Personal intentions

Have a more decorative, sturdy paper or card for participants to write their intentions. This is what they will bring home and put on a mirror or place they can look at and remind themselves. Have colored markers or pencils so the intention can be attractive and they can add their artistic flare to.

Have them write down their personal intention for the ceremony in the wording that inspires them. Ceremonies will have a community and/or global intention, but this is their opportunity to create a personal intention that is just for them at this time in their lives.

Examples of intentions;

Spiritual manifestations; Faith, open heart, self love, gratitude, connection with Divine, good relations with others, contentment, aligned with inner truth, confidence in self and life, stronger intuition, non-attachment, freedom, forgiveness.

Physical manifestations including health, wealth, home, car, boat, toys, jobs, clothing, career, relationship, travel.

Emotional manifestations including love, joy, peace, satisfaction, empowerment, radiant, honest.

Talents, skills to manifest, art, music, school, work promotion, learn a new language, academic or skill, any self development that is desired.

Releasing

Fire Releasing

As participants are writing their releasing and intentions begin to light the fire and attend the fire continuously until you put it out with water at the end of the releasing ceremony.

Include any sacred wood, or safe flammable objects that bring a more sacredness to the fire.

When the fire is manageable with some red hot coals it is ready to open the directions and formally begin the ceremony.

Invite the directions to be opened and

Water Releasing

Have a tub or container of water that is large enough for all participants to place their releasing papers.

Purchase special dissolving papers that can be written on and will dissolve once the paper becomes wet.

Invite participants to one at a time release their papers into the water when they feel ready.

Watch over the water, holding space until all participants have released all their papers into the water.

Cacao Plant Medicine

A beautiful, legal, healthy plant medicine often referred to as the “Mother” due to evoking heart opening and blissful emotions.

Preparing cacao before hand as a ceremony, infusing love, light, giving thanks and gratitude to the mother plant. Infusing the global/community intention into the plant medicine.

Have the cacao warming on low as participants arrive, whomever is attending to the cacao stir often, bless the cacao as you stir, infuse with the global/community intention of peace (Or other.) Try not to leave the plant medicine alone, if so only briefly unattended.

Invite participants to stir the cacao and infuse with the global/community intentions.

Keep warm but not hot… when the releasing ceremony is over begin to mindfully fill small cups with the cacao plant medicine, have one for each participant and a few extra, remember to have one for yourself.

When it is time invite participants to take a cup of cacao, or pass the cups out to the participants. Be sure to let them know to wait to drink the cacao.

Once all participants have their cup of cacao, first remind all participants that the cacao is already infused with the group intentions. Let them know that now is the time to infuse their cacao with their personal intentions.  Invite everyone in silence to bring the cup of cacao to their hearts and silently speak and/or think about their intention. Invite them to mentally and emotionally INFUSE their cacao with their intentions. Give 5 minutes of silence for everyone to infuse their cacao with their personal intentions.

Then invite participants to “Take the plant medicine” to drink the cacao slowly and mindfully as they bring awareness to the intentions filling them up, immersing every molecule and cell with their intention. Give time for this with music, silence or nature surroundings… this is a sacred time of physically taking the intentions into their bodies, minds and spirits.

Invite participants to light a candle to seal the intention even deeper.
